Everyone’s faith journey is different, but the path of discipleship at Lake Houston Methodist Church follows a simple movement:
Discover → Connect → Grow → Engage → Launch
Each step helps people move from exploring faith to living out their calling in Christ.
Take time to explore the steps below.
Start Here
If you are new to LHMC, the first steps are simple and can all happen on a Sunday morning.
1 - Let us know you’re here
Text GUEST to 281-324-1541 or fill out a connect card at the Guest Reception table.
2 - Visit the Guest Reception
Stop by after the service so we can meet you, answer questions, and help you take your next step.
3 - Sign up for Pizza with the Pastor (don’t worry we’ll help you)
âž¡ Next Step: Attend Pizza with the Pastor
Pizza with the Pastor is a relaxed gathering after church where you can meet the pastor and church leaders while enjoying a casual meal together.
During this time you will:
• hear the story and mission of LHMC
• learn a little about what we believe
• meet others who are new to the church
• ask questions in a comfortable setting
• learn ways to begin getting involved
For many people, this is where they begin to see how they might belong at LHMC.
How to Sign Up
You can register for the next Pizza with the Pastor by:
• texting PIZZA to 281-324-1541
• signing up through the Church Center app
• registering on the Events page of our website
• visiting the Guest Reception table on Sunday
Once you sign up, we’ll send you the details for the next gathering.
âž¡ Next Step: Connect by getting involved in the life of the church
Find Your Place
After Pizza with the Pastor, the next step is simple: find a place to connect outside of Sunday morning.
Many people begin building relationships through:
• Growth Groups
• Sunday School classes
• Bible studies
• serving on a ministry team
This is where friendships grow and the church begins to feel like home.
How to Get Involved
You can explore Growth Groups, serve teams, and other ministry opportunities:
• on our website at lakehoustonmethodist.org/connect
• in the Church Center App under Groups and Ministries
These tools make it easy to find a place to connect, grow, and serve within the life of the church.
As you begin building relationships and getting involved in the life of the church, you may find yourself wanting to learn more about who we are and what we believe.
That’s where Intro to LHMC comes in.
âž¡ Next Step: Intro to LHMC
After connecting for a while, many people attend Intro to LHMC.
Spend an evening with us (dinner provided) designed to help you:
• understand what we believe
• learn the mission and vision of the church
• ask questions about baptism and membership
• explore what it means to belong to LHMC
For many people, this gathering helps them prayerfully consider baptism or church membership.

What Comes Next
Once people are connected to the life of the church, many begin exploring the next steps of spiritual growth, serving, and leadership.
âž¡ Next Step: Grow
Deepen Your Faith
Our desire is not only that people attend church but that they grow as disciples of Jesus.
Intentional spiritual growth happens through environments such as:
• weekly Bible studies
• the Pastor’s Bible Study
• Wesleyan class meetings
• Wesleyan bands
These gatherings focus on Scripture, prayer, encouragement, and accountability as believers grow together in following Christ.
We believe that God has gifted every believer for a purpose. Each of us is called to use our gifts to serve others, build up the church, and help others follow Christ.
The first steps of the journey—Discover, Connect, and Grow—help people become rooted in the life of the church. The next steps—Engage and Launch—focus on helping people discover, develop, and use their gifts to glorify God and strengthen the mission of the church.

Use Your Gifts
One of the most important ways we grow as disciples is by serving others.
God gives every believer gifts to help build the church and bless the community.
You might serve in areas such as:
• hospitality and welcome teams
• children’s or student ministries
• worship or media teams
• missions and outreach
• prayer and care ministries
âž¡ Next Step: Explore leadership development
Lead and Multiply
As people grow in faith and service, some sense a calling to lead others in ministry.
Leadership development helps people:
• discern their calling to lead
• develop their leadership gifts
• guide and disciple others
Leaders may serve as:
• Growth Group leaders
• ministry team leaders
• mentors and disciple-makers
• church board members
Launch leaders also help guide others through the Discover, Connect, and Grow stages.
âž¡ Next Step: Begin leading a ministry or apply for a leadership role
